Yellow Journalism

Not to beat a dead horse, but I couldn't help but be reminded of the Danish Cartoon flap upon hearing of the upcoming release of the Da Vinci Code.

Here is a book and film, deeply offensive to Christians and especially Catholics. Yet the mainstream media revelled in covering it, not just the controversy it caused but its message and content.

On the other hand, we have the Danish cartoons. Also offensive to a religion. But in this case, the media runs and hides from the story. The difference: Muslims are willing to kill, maim and intimidate anyone who offends their religion. Free speech be damned.

It boils down to the fact that the media only believes in their First Amendment freedoms to the extent that they are simple and easy to exercise. If they had an ounce of consistency, they'd either treat Christians with kid gloves as they do Muslims or they would treat Muslims as harshly as they do Christians.

The media also had no problem falsely reporting that the military flushed a Koran down the toilet at Gitmo. Which goes to show you that they don't actually mind enflaming Muslims so long as the heat is directed towards somebody else.

Agreed, the "PC" media has been beaten into a corner by Muslims. Whoever is handling PR for Al Qaeda, Hamas, etc. is brilliant. All they have to do is chum the water a bit and our media does all of the heavy lifting to insure we implode.

I don't know what is worse, the media showing illiterate protesters holding up signs reading, in perfect English, "Death to Freedom"; or how the only news that is reported out of Iraq is bad. Goebbels could not have done it better.

Keep fighting the good fight and always ask yourself, "What would the Old Man do?"
